Derek was a customer of mine when I managed a coffee stand. The thing that always stuck out for me about Derek is the smile he always had on his face. He was always smiling. When he had his sweet baby girl, his smile grew even more. He used to bring her through sometimes and you could just tell how much he loves that little girl. I met his wife Kari at my going away party after leaving the stand. Kari is so beautiful and so sweet, it's easy to see why Derek smiles all the time with his two beautiful girls.

We shot their pictures on their property and the surrounding area. Talk about a photographers dream location. Entering their property, you have to cross this amazing wooden bridge. They have this field right next to their house, with overgrown grass and is surrounded by orchard. Across the street is a small canyon with an abandoned structure. Like I said, this is stuff this photographer gets very excited about. Their whole property though was really just gorgeous.

I haven't seen Avalene in a year, and it's just crazy how big she got. And just the sweetest little girl. She grabbed my hand several times whenever we walked to a new spot, just melted my heart. And then she started doing yoga with Kari, it was seriously the cutest thing ever!
